A counselor will return your call and help you to determine an appropriate course of action. Consultations are a regular part of our services and are frequently used by concerned parents, roommates, as well as by faculty and staff. crisis situations Please call us immediately if you become aware of students who are making direct or indirect references to suicide or who seem to be out of touch with reality (e.g., hearing voices) classroom & community support When unexpected crises occur (such as the death of a student), you may wish to invite us to your classroom or department to provide community support. We can assist you in discussing the tragedy and its impact on your class or department. The Center staff has been specially trained in skills of responding to such critical incidents that may occur on a college campus. classroom presentations The Counseling Center staff also provides educational presentations on topics of psychological interest that may be relevant to your class. Topics may include stress management, dealing with alcohol and substance use, depression and suicide, listening and communication skills, etc help on making a referral Students often experience personal difficulties that may interfere with their ability to perform well academically. There are a number of strategies that can be employed in making a successful referral to our services.
