Landry, CHA, is former vice chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Sunburst Hospitality Corporation, a hotel real estate and management company with an ownership portfolio of 75 hotels representing over 10,000 rooms in 25 states. He also serves on the board of directors of Hersha Hospitality Trust, a publicly traded hotel real estate investment trust.

Landry formerly served as president and chief operating officer of Choice Hotels International. During his tenure at Choice, Landry launched MainStay Suites, the first mid-price franchise extended-stay product, and Choice Picks Food Court, the industrys first packaged, modular fast food court featuring national brand names. Prior to his position with Choice, Landry served as president of the hotel division and assisted living division of Manor Care, Inc.

Landry also served as chief operating officer of Richfield Hotel Management Inc. where he oversaw the operations of 171 hotels, and as president of MHM, a hotel management company that was acquired by Richfield in 1991.

Landry began his hospitality career with Sonesta Hotels while studying at the University of New Orleans from which he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management. He has been designated a certified hotel administrator by the American Hotel & Motel Association and has lectured at numerous colleges and universities, including Harvard Business School, University of Michigan, Johnson and Wales University, University of New Orleans, University of Houston and Cornell University on the subjects of hotel management and the "F words for Success."

Landry is the vice-chairman of the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Motel Association and chairman of the Education Summit and also serves on the advisory board for Johnson and Wales University. He was the 1999 University of New Orleans Alumni of the Year, and a past board chairman of the International Council of Hotel Motel Management Companies. He is also a former board member of Friendly Hotels PLC, Choice Hotels Canada, the Texas Hotel Association and was president of the Dallas Hotel Association.
