Over 100 agencies serve as "community classrooms" for JWU students, and students contribute thousands of hours of service to local agencies each year through classes, special projects and volunteerism. The impact, however, goes far beyond hours of service or tasks completed. Students gain valuable experience and often life-changing exposure to the challenges of working in a diverse community. The nonprofits benefit from the energy, enthusiasm and creativity of tomorrow's leaders working to solve today's urban problems. A new committee, Local Initiatives for Neighboring Communities, has been formed to oversee the University's community donations. For more information, please contact Karen DelSesto, LINC Committee Coordinator, 598-4606, 598-2233 (fax).
